Obey STATEMENT ON ADMINISTRATION'S DECISION ON SENIORCARE

Seventh District Congressman Dave Obey (D-WI) released the following statement today on the Administration's decision to refuse to extend the federal waiver that allows Wisconsin seniors to use SeniorCare instead of a Medicare Part-D drug plan for prescription drug coverage:
____________________________________________________________________

"The Administration's decision is misguided and wrong. SeniorCare provides an efficient, easy to understand, alternative for Wisconsin's seniors and that shouldn't be ended.

"The Administration claims that SeniorCare could cost more than Part D drug plans, when in fact the Congressional Budget Office has advised us that SeniorCare would actually save money.

"It is clear that, regardless of the facts, the Administration is trying to push everybody into Part-D, even when better options are available - and SeniorCare is clearly a better option for Wisconsin's seniors.

"The President should reverse this decision."
